Teapot Carving by Mr. Shen Juechu

Shen Juechu (b.1915), a native of Zhejian province, studied Chinese painting and carving on seal in his early age. Later, he followed Wu Zheng and further studied Chinese painting. In 1977, persuaded by Tang Yun and Shen Zhiyi, he started the carving of purple clay teapot. He cooperated with Shanghai painting and calligraphic masters, and developed the “single stroke” technique, which made him the most significance teapot carver of the time. In 2006, Mr. Shen painted and carved a series of plum blossom teapots illustrated in this book. It is definitely not only his other stunning success, but also a treasure of the Shanghai art field.
