Ilya V. Sverdlov is a scholar and translator of Old English and Old Norse. He earned an MA in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics from Moscow State University in 1998 and a PhD in Germanic Languages from Moscow State University in 2003. He has taught courses at Moscow State Lomonosov University, the University of Nottingham, the University of Leeds, the University of Hull, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. As a former student of Olga A. Smirnitskaya, he brings a unique perspective to the translation of her 1994 book.
