About the Author

John Morris is one of Wales’s longest serving parliamentarians, having been first elected to the House of Commons in 1959. Having served in Labour governments under three prime ministers, he was secretary of state for Wales (1974–79) and attorney general (1997–99); he is now a Life Peer, a Knight Bachelor and Knight of the Garter. In 1973 he was made a QC and holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Wales, together with honorary fellowships at four ot its university colleges and at Gonville and Caius, Cambridge. He is a Bencher of Gray’s Inn and sometime Holker Senior Exhibitioner.
