Book Submissions
What to submit
If you wish to present a book proposal, please write to one of our acquisitions editors, by post or email, sending a letter of introduction, curriculum vitae, table of contents, and a prospectus. You may include a sample chapter, but please do not send a complete manuscript unless invited. If you are not sure which editor should consider your work, write to our editorial director, whose name is also listed. Please do not send your submission to more than one editor. For proposal guidelines and other information, see our Submissions FAQ.
Books we do not publish
We generally do not publish work outside the areas listed with the contact information for our acquisitions editors. We do not normally consider unrevised dissertations, and we do not publish Festschriften. We do not consider works of original fiction (our fiction program consists of fiction in translation and reprints of classic novels).
Unsolicited material
While we welcome your submissions, we cannot be responsible for any unsolicited manuscripts, photos, or artwork. It is not our policy to return proposals, so please do not send originals.
Please send your proposal to the relevant acquisitions editor or editorial director at the address below, or via email.
