About the Author

Carlo Rotella is Professor of English and Director of the American Studies Program and the Lowell Humanities Series at Boston College. He is also the author of Good with Their Hands: Boxers, Bluesmen, and Other Characters from the Rust Belt and October Cities: The Redevelopment of Urban Literature. He writes regularly for the New York Times Magazine, Washington Post Magazine, and Boston Globe, and he is a commentator for WGBH FM in Boston.
