About the Author

A. David Napier is a professor of anthropology and Dana Faculty Fellow in Anthropology and Art at Middlebury College. He has worked in a number of research and clinical settings and is also director of Students of Human Ecology, a nonprofit organization devoted to mentor-apprentice learning in the areas of health care, the environment, and culture. He is the author of Masks, Transformation, and Paradox and Foreign Bodies: Performance, Art, and Symbolic Anthropology.
