Gérard Mairet is professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Paris VIII. His other publications include Of “The Leviathan” by Hobbes, The Principle of SovereigntyandHistories of the Modern Foundation,and The Master and theMultitude. Philip Derbyshire is an academic, researcher and translator, and currently a British Academy Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Birkbeck College, University of London. His previous translations include Childhood Psychosis and Transtlantic Translations.
