About the Author

Gordon L. Clark is the Halford Mackinder Professor of Geography and Head of the Oxford University Centre for the Environment, and Professorial Fellow at St Peter’s College, University of Oxford. Prior to his appointment in 1995, he held teaching and research positions at Harvard University, the University of Chicago, Carn­egie Mellon University and Monash University.
